Taft School of Skydive has been around since the early 1960’s. In 1996 Skydive Taft was reopened at the county airport in Taft where some of the first records in skydiving were set. Dave Chrouch, the new owner, has over 10,000 skydives and 19 years in the sport, winning a gold medal for his camera flying at the World Freestyle Meet and a silver at the Perris Challenge Cup. Dave has also competed in the X Games and has been featured on Hard Copy, Real TV, and filmed many movie and TV stars, such as Alec Baldwin, and Malcolm Warner. Dave also filmed a skydiving episode for the Jenny McCarthy show which aired on MTV. Skydive Taft is located in the beautiful San Joaquin Valley at the Taft Airport, within walking distance of food and lodging. Taft has some of the best weather for skydiving in the country. We also have a large air-conditioned and heated building with a covered patio and barbecue area complete with misters to keep you cool in the hot summer months. Skydive Taft will supply you with the latest state-of-the-art equipment ram-air (square steerable), main and reserve parachutes, equipped with automatic openers, and the best maintained aircraft in the country, including two 182 Cessnas and a King Air. As a member of the U.S.P.A. (United States Parachute Association), Skydive Taft has an excellent student program which follows all U.S.P.A. regulations and guidelines for training students. All of our jumpmasters are certified and licensed by the U.S.P.A. and many have participated in world record attempts, such as The X Games, U.S. National, and most recently, the Women’s World Record Jump For The Cause. Tandem skydive allows first-time jumpers to experience the thrill and excitement of the sport without the preparation and knowledge required for a solo jump. It only takes 20 minutes of training after which you will free-fall harnessed to a highly skilled instructor from 14,000, reaching speeds of up to 120 miles an hour. At the safe altitude of 5,000 feet the instructor will deploy the main chute. If you choose, you can activate the parachute yourself, and then take in the view of the San Joaquin Valley on your way down. The Tranquil six minute parachute ride will allow plenty of time to practice landing techniques insuring a soft landing .

AFF Level 1 Skydivefrom $280.00
A four to six hour ground school prepares you for your first AFF jump. You will jump from over two miles above the earth accompanied by two jumpmasters while wearing your own parachute system. After approximately one minute of free-fall, you will pull your ripcord and fly your parachute coached by an instructor over the radio. This program involves seven levels of instruction. After you have completed your AFF training, our coaching program can continue with your "A" license.
